Bıttım Soap

A visit to Siirt is not complete without trying its world-famous soap, called bıttım. Bıttım is the name of the wild pistachio tree in the region; it is also known as menengiç. A fragrant resin from the trunk of the tree, or oil pressed from its seeds, is used in making the soap.
